until then....

I wrote this post a while ago, but just saved it as a draft. After a talk with my sweet friend Jeanine tonight, I figured it was time to publish it. So Jeanine, in honor of your waiting... here ya go. I know you will understand this ramble!

Being an adoptive parent in the waiting is the weirdest thing.

It's like a piece of you is missing. It hits you randomly through out the day, like a ton of brick or sometimes as softly as the wind. It takes your breath away. It makes you stop in your tracks.

You wonder, as you drive your car what it's gong to be like to look in the rear view mirror and see your child in the car seat.

You wonder, as you go to bed, how long till your child is home in their own bed? When will you be able to tuck them in, safe and sound?

You wonder, what am I going to do with a head full of Asian hair?

You pray, with every breath for a child you don't know but your heart does. Are you born yet sweet baby? When will you be home?

Everyday is one day, 24 hours, closer to getting you home. Until then I know my God is holding you, whispering our names into your soul. He is standing in the gap for you until we can bring you home. And we will, we will bring you home. Know we are doing everything we can to faithfully bring you home in His timing.

Until then, know your mommy and daddy love you.
Until then, know you are a part of our very souls.

  2. After we lost our son, I struggled with the meaning of motherhood and the feelings of loving a child that I could not see or hold. It occurred to me that you must have some of these same thoughts so I wanted to share something that I wrote. You are already Mommy and Daddy in your heart and MO is already a child showered with love and grace even if you haven't met.

    A Mother Is Love
A mother is the heart and soul
With or without a babe to hold.
A mother is the care and concern
Even before our child is born.
A mother is the pleasure and joy
To find out if, a girl or boy.
A mother is the hope and faith
That all God's children have a place.
A mother is the love we share
    For all the mothers everywhere.

Congratulations you are already a mother, MO's mother.
