yard sale

We held our fundraising yard sale on Saturday and let me just say we had TONS of stuff! Thank you everyone for your donations.

Friday night Anna came over and helped me organize the stuff. We had quite a few laughs with some of the stuff. Anna's favorite item were Hallie's anatomically correct baby dolls! Mom was headed our way and we surprised her with a GARAGE FULL!

We went to bed early and prayed for no rain!

We were up and at 'em at 5. We had to wait till about 6:15 for it to stop raining to finally start setting up. We got set up and the sale was on!

Here's mom and Anna setting up. Please note, it's still dark outside. Oh, and it's raining!

Ready to sell!

Greta being so helpful!

We were freezing, so we got out the fire pit.

And where there is a fire, there are smores!

We had a great time and laughed a lot. There were so many supportive people who stopped by. Most everyone was so supportive of our cause. We handed out flyers that have our blog address on it (so HI! all you new yard sale readers!).

I was handing one lady a flyer and told her she could follow our story on line and she told me she didn't want it because she "liked American babies" and there were "plenty of babies here that need love and care."

I was somewhat shocked simply because this is the first rude person I've encountered. If you could have seen my mom's face. She honestly just stood there with her mouth open!

I know we will encounter people like this closed minded woman on our journey, I just pray that we can parent "Mo" to be a proud American, be proud of his/her heritage, be proud to be our son/daughter, and to make a difference for the 147 million!

All in all it was a great day, rainy cold weather and rude women and all.... we raised over $400 and that's $400 closer to bringing Mo home!

  2. I am so glad your sale went well! And it must be that time of year...b/c I have been making smores in the oven at home and in the toaster oven at work all week. I have to improvise when I don't have a fireplace or firepit.

  3. Um, whoever that lady was...seriously. I have no words. Just UGH.

You will run into those kinds of people occasionally, but see it as a chance to tell them that we are ALL brothers and sisters in Christ regardless of our nationality! She'd better thank God that He doesn't use her criteria for acceptance.

    Ok, I'm done.
