While I'm waiting

A long time ago, when I first watched Fireproof I fell in love with the song "While I'm waiting". I went home and found it on line, downloaded it, along with everything else by John Waller. As I listened to it over and over again, I knew this song would speak volumes to me when we adopted. Now keep in mind at this point, we hadn't even talked about it seriously, but in my heart I knew. I knew we would adopt and I knew this song would bring me joy while I was waiting.

Well, here we are. Adopting. Waiting.

In all honesty, the waiting is pretty awful. I looked at Nick the other day and said "I just want my baby home!"

I just want my son home, where he belongs, with us forever. But, while I'm waiting, I thought I'd share the lyrics of the song with you.

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Takeing every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord

So while the waiting isn't easy, while we wait for the Lord's timing to bring our boy home, we will serve, we will worship, we will celebrate, we will cry, we will endure because at the end, we will be a family of three and that is worth the wait.

  1. I just found your blog the other day and have enjoyed reading through some of your old posts. We have just started the process to adopt from Korea. I love this song. It has been very special to me too throughout the journey of infertility and now adoption. Thanks for posting it and reminding me that the waiting will have an end and that end will be totally worth all of this waiting!
