5 things I know about my son...

1. He's a fighter.
He was born at just over 2 lbs. He had heart surgery at just a few weeks old. He had the deck stacked against him, he was a sick little guy. He stayed in the NICU for over two months. My boy is a fighter. I love that in him.
Son, never give up, ever. You will do great things for the kingdom with that spirit.

2. He was ready for us.
He was put under Holt's care and listed with their Waiting Child Program on 7.9.09. That is 4 days after we sent our initial application to the first agency before changing to Holt. I saw his picture for the first time on Oct 15th.
Son, I know God created our family for you forever. When God formed the Earth and breathed breath into Adam he planned your for our family. I'm so glad that morning of Oct 15th I saw your face and knew you were the one God made for me.

3. He's not a sleeper.
He goes to bed around 10 or 11, which is already past my bedtime. He will sleep till about 5. He then gets up for a bottle and goes back to sleep around 7 and gets up for the day at 9. He will then take one, maybe two, half hour to hour naps.
Son, I love you. I love sleep. Let's work this out.

4. He likes to be held. a lot.
His report says he loves to be carried on his foster mother's back. He loves to be hugged and kissed.
Son, may there never be a day that goes by that I don't hug you and kiss you. I've waited and prayed for you and promise I won't ever let you go. Ever.

5. He "lights" up when he sees his foster father.
While he prefers his foster mother, when his foster father walks in the room, he smiles and his face lights up.
Son, may your face light up when you see your daddy. He loves you. He can't wait to have you home forever. (and, his face lights up when he sees you!)

  3. Dear Daughter,
    You forgot #6.
He is one lucky, blessed little fellow to have two such wonderful parents.
*Bates, your mommy and daddy love you like nobody's business! Your parents will love you, protect you, guide you, mold you, challenge you, encourage you, and live Godly examples before you. You, my dear grandson, are a most blessed child of God.*
    Love,
    Your DD =-)
