A whirlwind day!

Whew! What a day!

We are two hours ahead of Holt, so I knew the travel call would come about 10:30 or so, after Lisa got into the office and check the emails from Korea with updated travel call information. About 10 o'clock, I was going stir crazy, just trying to not stare at the clock tick tick tick. At 10:24, my cell phone lit up and it said HOLT. I seriously FREAKED out! I was screaming on the inside and my hands were shaking, my heart was pounding.... I all but forgot how to answer the phone!

I answered and oh so calmly said, Hello.

"Hey Mary Leigh, it's Lisa"

"Ok hey, Lisa! I was sure hoping you'd call me!"

"Well, does that mean you are ready to go to South Korea, cause Bates is ready for you!"

Then my world stood still. I was standing in the sunlight on the porch office with a warm breeze on my face, and the world stopped spinning for a moment. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped beating. I forgot how to breathe. In that instant my life changed.

Lisa went over a few logistical things with me, but I honestly was in a fog. I asked her how soon we could travel and she said Friday. She told me yesterday, Erin (who was the social worker in the Waiting Child Program that we worked with to get matched with Bates, we love her) asked her if we had gotten our Travel Call yet. Lisa said everyone in the office was rooting for us!!! I told Lisa everyone on the message board was rooting for us too (in fact, just that morning someone started a thread that was entitled "Mary Leigh, today is your day!") I quickly got off the phone and just took a moment to take a deep breathe and thank the Lord for the miracle of my son.

I tried to call Nick, not one, not two, not three, but SEVEN times.... and he NEVER answered!
I tried to call my mom, who is a school teacher, and she didn't answer!
I tried to call my grandmother, and she didn't answer!

Seriously, someone.... ANSWER THE BLASTED PHONE!

Nick called back while I was waiting for my grandmother to answer. I said "Why didn't you answer the phone" He said, "I was on the phone with the Insurance Company" I said "Well, you should answer the phone cause we are going to KOREA!!!!"

I shared the whole story with him and quickly got off the phone so I could call the travel agent.

Ok, keep in mind, I'm at work. We happened to have TWO groups at camp today doing course, which I was supposed to be registering and they showed up right about now, just an hour and half early! Ugh!

I called the adoption travel agent, Earl. He was fantastic. I said "Hi, I'm Mary Leigh Brown and I need to get to South Korea- SOON!" Within 15 minutes he had us booked on a flight and got us an INCREDIBLE deal!

After talking to Earl, I called my mom and grandmother back (who both answered this time) and they both screamed with excitement! Then the word was spread like wildfire!

I then had to go run a ropes course and try to keep my head out of the clouds. It was a whirlwind day. I came home with a headache from being so excited all day!

Three sleeps till we board a plane to our son!

  2. Daniel texted me after tennis and asked if he could go to a friend's house and help him with his algebra and then go to church. I told him "yes but you need to say a prayer for Mary Leigh and Nick.....they got their call and they leave Saturday to bring their little one home." Here's the answer from a 15 year old boy.........."Awesome, I will pray for them." I'm so happy for you guys.
