It's been a whirlwind two weeks at the Brown house, but oh so worth it!
Now that the dust has settled, here is how we got our MO!
On Thursday, October 15th, I was just checking out the waiting child list on Holt's website and saw two new little boys were added. I emailed the links to Nick to ask him what he thought, he replied "they are cute." Not really what I was looking for, but I thought, ok I won't push it (at least for right now).
On Friday, the 16th I opened the links back up and just KNEW baby B09_183 was our son! It was just this gut feeling. I guess it was my first material instinct.
Over the weekend I brought him back up to Nick and I started researching his medical conditions. I spend HOURS on google, and I do mean HOURS! Nick and I discussed it and on Monday I emailed Erin at Holt's waiting child program and asked for his medical file.
Let me side track for a minute, Nick and I haven't completed our homestudy yet. We have turned in our paperwork, but at this time we still both had to do our individual interviews and our joint interview and home tour. Since we haven't completed our homestudy, we could request information on a child, but could not be "referred" one since we were on the waiting list yet.
Monday mid day I received two emails from Erin with a TON of medical information, pictures, medical records, and monthly Well Baby Checks for baby B09_183. I spent Monday afternoon pouring over them all and immediately called Vanderbilt's International Adoption Clinic to get an appointment for them to review his file. They weren't going to be able to do a phone consult until the 30th. I thought that was WAY TO FAR AWAY! I found another international adoption doctor, Dr. Jenista, through some online message boards and emailed her on Monday night. Dr. Jenista emailed me back that night said to email her the information and she could review it the next day and give me a call.
Of course, I couldn't keep my mouth shut so had to call my mom and share with her the news. I also wanted her to review the files to look at his gross motor skills and development milestones. She was SO EXCITED to say the least!
That night Nick and I went to dinner at Las Palmas and talked about him. We had all his paperwork all over the table. I'm sure the waiter was wondering what we were doing.
Up next.... sharing our news with others, our doctor's appointments and some minor set backs.
