getting matched with Mo, part 3

Wednesday was a whirlwind!

I was off work on Wednesday and I was a woman on a mission!

Nick and I met at 10:30 at the local pediatricians office. We were really pleased with the office and the doctor, so nice. We kinda overwhelmed her with our stack of papers and medical information. She went over everything with us. We didn't really learn anything that we didn't already know.

After our doctor's appointment we went over to Moe's for lunch. We discussed if he was ours. Nick was still a little hesitant, remember he inches into a swimming pool.

We still wanted to take the files to our friend Amber, the pediatric physical therapist, to look at.

We were anticipating receiving the videos from the agency the next day, so I had planned to go see Amber on Thursday evening and have her look at his file and his videos.

I had a one o'clock appointment with our local social worker, Kim. It was my individual interview for our homestudy. We "interviewed" for about an hour and then we got out all the information on the baby and looked it over. Kim was so great and so knowledgeable.

After my interview with Kim, I headed home and what was sitting on my porch but an envelope from Fed Ex. Literally, my heart stopped beating!

I took the envelope in and just sat on the couch. I knew if I watched the video I would fall in love and there would be no way he wouldn't be ours. But, if you know me, you know I am not good at surprises and secret keeping! I mean if there is a present for me in the house, I can't sleep till I find it.

I tried to call my friend Marty for reinforcements and for her to tell me not to open it, but guess what, of course she didn't answer!

So, of course I ripped open the envelope and stuck the dvd into our dvd player and IT DIDN'T PLAY! I had a few seconds of freak out and then I gathered my whits and put it in my laptop.

AND THERE HE WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was incredible. The first moment I saw his face, I knew... I think I even said, Hi, you are our son!

I watched those three videos probably 20 times back to back to back, before I came back to reality and called Nick and told him the videos were here. He asked me if I watched them. I told him I had to! He asked me what I thought and I told him, he is our son!

Just a few seconds later Marty called back and I told her I was calling for her to tell me not to watch the videos, she just laughed and told me she wouldn't have told me that, she would have told me "Put them in! Watch them!!"

I immediately called Amber and sweetly invited myself over so she could watch the videos. Like I said, woman on a mission here.....

I headed to Amber's and she watched the videos of him at physical therapy. She loved him too! She said she was really impressed with the physical therapy facility and the care he was getting. She didn't notice any red flags on his development or anything that appeared to be abnormal. Amber has adopted the cutest little boy from Africa, Silas, so she "gets" the adoption world and that development might be a little slower, but that's ok. Of course, she (and no one else) could tell us what his future would look like, or if he might have some development issues down the road. Amber said she would do an eval of his once we got him home but she told me the one thing I had been looking for, "yep, you should adopt him!"

I headed back to my house, but had to make a pit stop to see my friend Casey on the way. I mean I was overjoyed, at this point I knew he was meant to be ours! She was at work and I popped in and just showed her his video. She was SO EXCITED for us! She said she knew something was up and was hoping we had good news.

I finally made it home and waited for Nick to get home from work. We had to go out to dinner with some people from his work, so when he got home he came upstairs where I was STILL watching the videos. I quickly filled him in on all the good news from Amber.

Nick said, ok, well let me see them.
I told him I wasn't going to make him watch them, that I wanted him to watch because he wanted to, not because I forced him too.
Well, of course, he couldn't not watch them either.

So we watched the videos together! I'm pretty sure this was like the millionth time I watched them!

Nick quietly watched them and then he said "he sure is asian."
Seriously..... yep, first reaction!

On the way to dinner, Nick asked me what I thought and I told him, "He is our son!"
Nick didn't want to rush into the decision, so.....

Stay tuned!
