Today we are going to learn about the favorite cartoon in South Korea. Sorry, Nate, it's not Handy Manny.
It's Pororo!
Pororo is a little penguin living in Antarctica. He goes on adventures with his friends Poby the polar bear, Loopy the beaver, Harry the hummingbird, Crong the dinosaur, Petty the penguin, and Eddy the fox.
Pororo yearns to fly and several episodes chronicle his misadventures in trying to achieve this feat. He is always getting into mischief and playing practical jokes on his friends. He lives in an alpine shaped house, with his sidekick friend Crong.
Crong is a baby dinosaur whom Pororo finds by accident one day as an unhatched egg (episode I). Thinking it would make a nice omelette, Pororo rolls the enormous egg home but is surprised when it hatches as he's about to crack the shell. As Pororo is the first person Crong sees when he hatches, he thinks of him as a brother.
I wondered how Harry ended up in Antarctica, you know since there are TONS of hummingbirds in Antarctica- so I googled it. Harry is a hummingbird who was on his way to a warm country, but lost track and ended up on the South Pole.
Fun huh?
We plan to get a Pororo dvd in South Korea, so we may have a watching party! Comon' over. Bring the popcorn!
They are so cute...I will watch them, and Colin seems to LOVE watching animals, so Bates might have a friend to watch with. Maybe Colin will even pick up a little Korean...
