Whew, what a 24 hours.
Yesterday, we got an email from an adoption loan place we had applied for an adoption loan. It was the "thanks but we will be unable to issue this loan to you at the present time". UGH!
We will be receiving a $10,000 tax credit after our adoption is finalized and we want to borrow that money and then pay it back with the tax credit. Well, this one agency said no.
It was discouraging, of course. We have a few other options we are exploring and we are leaning in and trusting God to provide. But my planning nature makes that hard sometimes. God certainly has been stretching me and Nick!
Then later in the afternoon we got a Well Baby Check for Bates. He is growing really well. He weights 19 lbs and is over 2 feet 4 inches tall! He now has not one, not two, but FOUR teeth!
He is meeting milestones like a champ. He is now fully crawling and can pull to standing up and can stand briefly on his own. He's gonna be walking in no time!
So, that was great news, rollercoaster HIGH!
But noted on his check was an issue with his long bone (femur) in his leg. It noted some flaring of the bones and that he needs a follow up with an Orthopedic Doctor in Korea.
Of course, I freak. What does that mean?
Luckily we have some adoptive friends who is an Orthopedic Surgeon. Thank God for them!
After a few frantic emails and text messages and phone calls, I learn that it can mean lots of things and without seeing the X-ray it's hard to tell, but it can be a sign of malnutrition.
Also noted on his check is the possibility of Hutchinson teeth. I talked to my sister, the dental hygienist, and this is not alarming. It's caused from a disease he had at birth and is just a malformed tooth.
Again, we are trusting and leaning into God for this.
So after that world wind, I was ready for the day to be over and put Tuesday in the books!
But then I got three emails from families who are interested in international adoption. Possibly three orphans out there will have forever families. Makes my heart so happy.
So folks, let's pray for little Bates! And pray for his mom and dad!

Be comforted my friend, that little guy is exactly how the Father wants him to be. The Lord knew him before He laid the foundation of the world. B is perfect, and was created for HIS glory and to be a part of your family and you his. The funds will come. You will get your boy home.
ReplyDelete"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world..." Eph 1.
Found your blog from the Just Love Coffee article in Sunday's paper. We live in M'boro and are we are adopting from Ethiopia. Just wanted to introduce our family to yours and let you know we will be praying for your adoption and your little guy. Do you mind if I add your blog to my adoption blogroll on my blog? Just let me know.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Amy
It's so cool to see how God places so many awesome people around you guys. The fact that you have medical personnel around you that can answer your frantic emails and texts is a blessing! Who knew AM would be lending you encouragement regarding a tooth! Wow. God is SO much bigger than we give Him credit for!
ReplyDeleteI'm praying HARD for you guys. I know the time is nearing and I'm lifting yall up almost daily. Anytime I glance at, or feel, my little prayer circle bracelet I'm wearing, I whisper prayers.
Love you!
