letter to Bates

Nick and I are sending Bates another care package in the next few days. I met a friend, Holly, on the Holt Message board who will be traveling to get her son (who happened to be waiting child buddies with Bates) hopefully in the next few weeks. So I may send the package with her, or I may just mail it.

Part of this care package is a letter I wrote to Bates. I had the letter translated to Hangul so I hope his foster mother reads it to him.

Here it is:

사랑하는 아들아,
우리는 너와 깊은 사랑에 빠졌다. 한국에 나가서 너를 우리 품에 안을 날만을 기다린단다.
하나님께서 너를 만드시고 우리 가족의 한 부분이 되게 하심으로 우리는 큰 축복을 받았단다.
우리 가족은 너를 영원히 집으로 데려오는 날을 손꼽아 기다린단다. 너는 우리의 첫 아이, 하지만 걱정하지 않아도 돼. 우리는 너의 동생들을
더 입양할 계획이란다. 우리는 개가 두마리 있어서 너와 잘 놀거라 생각해. 벌써 너의 장난감을 탐내고 있단다. 너는 4분의 조부모님과 5분의
증조부님들이 계시단다. 너는 이 집안의 첫 손자가 되는거란다. 너의 삼촌들과 이모들이 기다리고 있단다. 이 집안은 크고 아주 사랑이 많단다!
우리는 너의 사진을 늘 들여다 보고 있고 너의 모습이 담긴 비디오를 보고 또 보고있단다. 우리는 너에 관한 이야기를 하고, 너를 위해 기도하고
매일 너를 기다린다. 우리는 한국에 가서 너를 키워주시고 있는 가족들을 만나보기를 기대한단다. 너의 위탁모님과 위탁부께서 너를 많이 사랑해
주시고 너를 잘 보살펴주시고 계시다는것을 잘 알고 있단다. 우리는 너무 감사하고 또 만나뵙고 너에 대해서 많이 배울날을 기다린단다.
우리는 한국에 나가서 너의 귀여운 얼굴을 보고 영원한 집으로 데려올 날만을 조바심으로 기다린단다.

But here is what it says, in English:

Dear Son,
We are so in love with you! We can’t wait to travel to Korea and hold you in our arms. We are so blessed that God created you to be part of our family.
Our family can’t wait to have you home forever. You will be our first child, but don’t worry, we plan on adopting you some brothers and sisters, too. We have two dogs for you to play with. They have already been trying to get into your toys. You have 4 grandparents and 5 great grandparents, you are the first grandbaby in the family. You have aunts and uncles waiting for you. This is a big family, with lots of love!
We stare at your picture all the time and watch the videos of you over and over. We talk about you, pray for you, and long for you daily. We are so excited to travel to Korea and meet the family who has been caring for you. We know your foster mom and dad love you very much and have taken very good care of you. We are so thankful for them and can’t wait to meet them and learn all about you.
We are anxiously waiting to come to Korea and see your sweet face and bring you home, forever. We love you, Jeong-Hwan, very much!
